THE EFFECT OF TEACHING ENGLISH BY USING JIGSAW TECHNIQUE ON STUDENTS’ SPEAKING ACHIEVEMENT

Abstract


Tujuan penelitian ini adalah: (1) untuk mencari apa pengaruh pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan teknik Jigsaw terhadap pencapaian nilai speaking siswa, (2) untuk membuktikan adanya pengaruh positif dari penggunaan teknik Jigsaw terhadap pencapaian nilai speaking siswa, (3) perubahan ditandai dengan peningkatan nilai akademik bahasa Inggris siswa dalam speaking dan writing sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan teknik Jigsaw.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) teknik Jigsaw dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris khususnya dalam speaking dapat mencapai aktifitas siswa secara fisik maupun mental melalui lebih banyak kegiatan, (2) metode penggunaan teknik Jigsaw dalam pembelajaran speaking siswa berhasil membawa siswa meningkatkan hasil belajarnya. Hal ini terlihat dari hasil nilai rata rata pretest speaking siswa yaitu 61.05, dan skor rata rata posttest mereka sebesar 68.16.
