PENDIDIKAN ISLAM DI KABUPATEN TABALONG: ADAPTASI LEMBAGA PENDIDIKAN ISLAM

Abstract


Current educational institutions are not only to prepare children to become adults, but education must respond to economic and moral demands on a national and local scale as well as requirements originating from the global world. The period of globalization with the era of industrial revolution 4.0 forced every component in the social system to adapt to these changes, such as technological developments, communication, and modernization. Islamic education institutions as one of the social systems certainly face social change. On the other hand, Islamic education institutions also face the struggle for the education market, namely students.
This study aims to describe the adaptation of Islamic education institutions in the Tabalong District, the northernmost region of the Province of South Kalimantan. Adaptation of Islamic education institutions facing the era of globalization was analyzed using Niklas Luhmann’s structural functional theory. The form of adaptation of Islamic education institutions in Tabalong Regency to the demands of the community can be identified as follows: First, Islamic boarding schools retain the characteristics of their pesantren. Secondly, the pesantren modernize with the existence of madrassas and schools in boarding schools. Third, the growth of Islamic schools with the Fullday School and Islamic School with Islamic Boarding School.
